A new report from Variety suggests Amazon has received $25 million of Californian tax credit to continue its Fallout TV show, essentially announcing a second season will follow its debut this Thursday. Amazon itself hasn't shared the news yet, but if the series tracks well on the streaming service, then an announcement could follow in the coming weeks. The first season, which is made up of eight episodes, is available in its entirety from 11th April 2024.
The outlet reports a total of $152 million in tax incentives has been awarded to 12 TV shows, and Fallout is one of them. This means the filming of season two would move to the west coast of the USA while the first batch of episodes were recorded mostly in New York. This would line up with where the first season is actually set: the Los Angeles wasteland.
As Variety puts it: "California’s tax incentive is largely geared toward luring away TV shows that have already started production in another state or overseas. Such shows get a credit worth 25% of their qualified expenditures, and also get 20% in every subsequent season."
Fallout is available to watch on Amazon Prime from Thursday, 11th April 2024. We'll have a complete review of the full season before then. Are you looking forward to the TV show? Let us know in the comments below.

Rings of Power, whatever Star Wars seem to churn out - For the love of God, please let there be a telly series of a licence property that's actually good 🙂
I’ll give this a watch on Thursday since I have no show that night besides from baseball. I probably won’t binge it though
Let's gooooooo
My most anticipated TV series/movie of the year with Furiosa a close second.
I wonder what the other shows are?
I was at the UK premiere event in the and saw the first two episodes, and liked it a lot. Definitely has the vibe from the games down. Looking forward to seeing more of it.
How about we see if it's good first?

Good to know there will likely be a second season. While I was going to watch this anyways, it's always nice to know there will be another season when watching shows nowadays.
@KilloWertz What if it's as terrible as "Rings of Power" though? @Keyblade-Dan is right.
@LN78 Good to hope for the best. The trailer seemed a little more comical than I was hoping for, though. Think dramatic more fits this genre but we'll see. I'm willing to waste an hour to find out.
@ironcrow86 X-Men 97, The Boys, Invincible, The Last of Us and Ahsoka were and are all good or great.
I'll bet anyone interested that Season 2 arrives before the promised "next-gen update" for Fallout 4 on PS5 does
@Gremio108 As long as it's not SBJ
God I hate what Fallout 4 did to the Fallout aesthetic.
@Aeula Really? Seemed to be the most popular but guess that doesn't always equate to best.
@DennisReynolds "Ahsoka" was bloody awful. They completely ruined Thrawn.
@LN78 Nah the show had enough good things going for it.
@DennisReynolds Just to be clear - you're saying that the fact that the writers turned one of the greatest villains in the entire "Star Wars" canon, a genius character renowned for their strategic machinations and tactical forethought into a blithering idiot who couldn't plan a hole in a donut wasn't a significant enough problem for you to regard the show as a failure? Whatever floats your boat, mate.
After 4 and then 76, I am alright without any more Fallout. A good show would just annoy me because I know Bethesda doesn't have what it takes to make a good Fallout game.
@LN78 Here's the thing i don't care all that much for Thrawn because i never bothered with the "Legends" stuff that wasn't the OG Clone Wars cartoon or video games. I watched Ahsoka for her and the return of Hayden's Anakin not Blue Elon Musk 😂
looking forward to this
recently played new vegas again great game so will have to play more fallout 76 till the next gen update of fallout 4 releases
@LN78 My comment still applies. It is good to know it's likely to get a second season regardless even if we don't know the quality yet. Going by the trailers though, I fully expect it to be good. It looks like they nailed it pretty well with the atmosphere and tone.
@KilloWertz Why is it "good to know" that? What if the show turns out to be irredeemable crap? Essentially the producers would be getting rewarded for churning out garbage!
PS With the involvement of the "Westworld" creatives and actors like Goggins and Maclachlan, I also expect the show to be decent at a minimum. My reticence is largely based on how thoroughly abysmal "Rings of Power" - Amazon's last big budget IP based show - was. That dumpster fire is supposedly confirmed for four more seasons!
@LN78 It's good to know because sometimes you get into a show in it's first season, only to have it get cancelled and you never get to finish the story. At least in cases like this, you know going in that it will be getting another season, so you don't have to worry about the story not continuing at the end of the season.
@KilloWertz Sure... but that's only really an issue if the quality is there to begin with. Nobody cares if crappy shows get canned after one season - "Willow" was such a disaster that it got pulled off its host streaming service and (if rumours are to be believed) written off against taxes! It just seems to me that by greenlightimg multiple seasons of untried shows (before they even know if they find an audience) based solely on the strength of the IP ("Picard" is another good example) these studios might be incentivising mediocrity.
@LN78 You're fixated on the fact that there's a possibility that a show could suck and refusing to even understand what I'm saying. Whether a show ends up sucking or not, it's always nice to know that there will be multiple seasons when you invest time into watching a show, especially when so many shows get cancelled before they finish. I've said it several times now, so I guess there's really nothing more to say.
@KilloWertz Your argument is absolute nonsense, then. What if NOBODY is even watching the show past the first couple of episodes because it's patently awful? Then you have a second season being made for the benefit of nobody except the people working on the show!
Today I finished the season in one sitting, and it is awesome!
People should not worry
